Custom painted pet portraits of your pet from your photos
How it works
I paint pet portraits from photographs that you provide. You can send them via email or hard copy, which I will return.
The best pet paintings come from the best photos that are clear and sharp. Remember if you are not happy with the photo you will not be happy with the painting. Close-ups are ideal, photos that don't work are ones where the pet is a small part of the overall photo. Photographs with high resolution are needed to capture the details: physical features, coloring, markings and of course the eyes...That's where the personality really comes through!
A few tips on how to achieve a great photo
-
The best photos are taken outside. Natural light, even a cloudy day works best. If not possible, make sure the area is well lit. No flash please! (the eyes get a little funky...not a good look)
-
Get down on your pets level when taking your photograph. Close-ups are very important for the details.
-
Get great expressions! Try not to rely on treats to get the pets attention, as they will focus solely on it. Making quick interesting noises that your pet isn't used to hearing, such as squeaks, hisses, or whispers.
-
Keep it short and fun. Pets have short attention spans-try to work fast!
-
Get a helper. It's always a little easier with an extra set of hands!

Once a photograph has been selected, I will compose the photograph in a suitable manner for the canvas that you have selected. When you approve, a $100 non-refundable deposit is required and balance paid upon completion of the pet painting. Please allow 4-6 weeks for pet portrait to be completed.
When the portrait is finished, I will email you a photo for your final approval. I will send you an invoice, including shipping charges. When I receive your payment, I will ship your pet portrait. I accept personal checks.
The portrait you will receive will capture the essence and likeness in an artistically created piece of fine art.
I specialize in painting dogs, cats and horses, but you can commission any type of pet.
